Geopolitical musings through a progressive lens …by Matt Eckel and Jeb Koogler

EDITOR – Jeb Koogler is an Associate at the Watson Institute for International Studies and a former Research Fellow at the New America Foundation. He has lived for two years in the Middle East — mostly in Syria — and is proficient in Arabic. His writings have been published in The Christian Science Monitor, The Huffington PostThe American Prospect Online, and the Columbia Journalism Review. In his previous life, Jeb worked as a carpenter’s assistant. He arguably knows more about drywall installation than he does about foreign affairs. No, but seriously.

EDITOR – Matt Eckel, a Boston area native, has worked in political advocacy in Washington and made some brief forays into the snowy world (metaphorical and otherwise) of Chicago politics. A speaker of French and Italian, Matt holds a BA in Political Science from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and an MA in Social Science from the University of Chicago. He is currently pursuing his PhD in political science at Georgetown University.
